Court remands Seun Kuti for four additional days

According to Lindaikejisblog. Lagos State Police Secure Four-Day Remand Order for Afrobeat Singer Seun Kuti

Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has been granted a remand order extension by the Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrate Court in Lagos State, following an application made by the police.

The order allows the police to detain Kuti for an additional four days until May 22, as they continue their investigation into the case.

The application for the extension was presented by DCP Simon Lough (SAN), the head of the Chambers of the Nigeria Police.

Lough emphasized the necessity of more time to conduct further inquiries regarding the incident involving Kuti.

The police have charged him with assaulting an inspector, as well as driving recklessly on the bridge and intentionally obstructing a moving police vehicle.

Initially arraigned on May 16, Kuti was granted a 48-hour remand period. The magistrate overseeing the case, Mrs Adeola Olatubosun, ruled that he should be released on bail upon the expiration of the 48-hour period.

The bail conditions include a sum of one million Naira and two sureties, with one of the sureties being a landlord within the court’s jurisdiction.

The case has been adjourned until May 22 for further mention, and the magistrate has instructed the prosecutor to provide a duplicate of the case file to the state director of public prosecutions for guidance.
